The House is a structure of unknown origins, built possibly circa 1859. The main body of the dwelling is two storied, constructed of weatherboard with a gabled iron roof and had brick chimneys (now removed). There is a double storied timber verandah, with posts framing the symmetrically placed openings and decorated with shaped valences and balusters. There is a single-storied, gabled wing at one end.
This house is an unusual timber house and forms an important part of the streetscape of The Strand. The dwelling appears to be an early surviving example of a double storied timber house, examples of which are not common. Evocative of a vernacular building tradition, the design is notable for the timber valences and other decorative work, which was not uncommon but rarely survives.
