Statement of Significance

This was one of three metropolitan public golf courses developed by the government. The others being Wattle Park and Albert Park. Inspired by contemporary American country clubhouses, Public Works Chief Architect, Percy Everett, supervised the design of a gabled Craftsman Bungalow form with the characteristic natural stone, clay and local timber external finishes, some 20 years after the Bungalow's introduction to Australia. Nevertheless the building, with its intact garden setting of rockeries and clipped hedges is among the best Bungalow examples in the state. It is perhaps the only public building to follow this style and remains generally unaltered.
