Statement of Significance

This three storey brick building fronting onto the narrow lane is an essential reminder of the warehouse building of the 1890's. The severity of the building is relieved by the bluestone sills, bullnosed bricks edging the windows and the decorative brick cornice treatment. With No 11 Heffernan Lane it captures the canyon like effect of the relatively large buildings bordering the tiny lanes off Little Bourke Street and is an imporant element of the Chinatown character.
