Statement of Significance

Brooks' Chambers is of State architectural and historic significance as an Edwardian Freestyle interpretation of a Renaissance Revival design, and as the headquarters of Brooks Robinson & Co, the leading stained glass manufacturer and shopfitter from the 1880s to the 1950s. It is also one of the few buildings designed by the short-lived partnership of the notable architects George Inskip and Henry Kemp, and was constructed by the eminent builders Clements Langford in 1910-11. Due to alterations for the Embank Arcade in c.1963 the ground floor is no longer intact.
