Statement of Significance

Significance: This is a good example of local ingenuity and improvisation using components and skills available in the area to meet a need.
History: The plant was reported by Mr Cooper to have been made in the 30's. Mr Cooper also gave the following details. The pattern for the buckets was made by Jim Penner, a local engine driver, to an illustration in an old technical book belonging to Mr Cooper and the buckets were cast locally in brass.
Condition: The water nozzle and cover to prevent splashing of the generator are missing but apart from that it could be restored to working order fairly easily.
