Statement of Significance

A two-storey mansion of 1870 (originally named St John's Wood), with columnar porticos surmounted by balustraded belconies and with elaborately worked iron entrance gates. The name change to 'Wanganella' came about in 1884 when Mrs Marie Peppin bought hte house and named it after her husband's family's merino sheep property 'Wanganella' in Deniliquin NSW.
