Statement of Significance

A two storey brick building designed by Leslie Perrott and Partners around a massive glazed cylindrical staircase and first occupied in 1940 by the Victorian branch of Stewarts and Lloyds, the old established Scottish steel manufacturers and importers. The building is notable for its bold and distinctive appearance, and for the use of design elements rarely seen in industrial building in Melbourne.
