Statement of Significance

Designed by influential Edwardian architect, Nahum Barnett, this overblown Venetian Gothic building was constructed in 1913 for the chemists Henry Frances & Co, one of Melbourne's oldest firms of dispensing pharmacists. It is innovative in its use of reinforced concrete to create its decorative elements.
