ELTHAM STUDY STATEMENT OF SIGNIFICANCE: This Oak tree is a typical planting around old farm dwellings and is of an age consistent with early agricultural practices in the area. It is a good specimen of significant age and displays good health. REVISED STATEMENT OF SIGNIFICANCE (with AHC criteria) (2001) English oaks and farm house, at the former Panton property are significant to Eltham: - the oaks as typical plantings for early farms in the area which now are uncommon at this maturity ( Criterion D2, B2); - the house recalls Edwardian-era cottage construction in the area, as weekenders and farmlet houses ( Criterion A4); - one oak as a good specimen of significant age and good health ( Criterion D2, B2); - for the property's historical association with the well known Joseph Panton whose name has been memorialised in the Panton Hill locality ( Criterion H1).
