ELTHAM STUDY STATEMENT OF SIGNIFICANCE: This planting is at the same time typical and uncommon, featuring the very common use of Radiata Pine ('Pinus radiata') as a windbreak along the edge of the property but is most unusual for the planting of the Stone Pine ('Pinus pinea') at the commencement of this line. REVISED STATEMENT OF SIGNIFICANCE (with AHC criteria) (2001) The stone pine is significant to the Nillumbik Shire: - for its rarity at that maturity (Criterion B2); - for its association with the Taylor family, pioneers in the area (Criterion H1). The Monterey pine row (14) is significant to St Andrews: - as evidence of orchard activity there early in the 19th century (Criterion A4); - as a mature tree row prominent in the landscape (Criterion E1).
