The Diamond Creek bridge is historically and aesthetically significant to the Shire of Nillumbik.
The Diamond Creek bridge is historically significant as an early marker of an important travel route from Diamond Creek to Hurstbridge, which was a key goldfields route (Criterion A). It is historically and aesthetically significant for its role in the cultural landscape which evokes some of the 19th-century character of Diamond Creek and . as an example of bridge construction methods in the late 1890s and for its use of wrought iron construction The aesthetic significance of the bridge is enhanced by its setting amongst the ornamental planting of the Campbell Street reserve (Criteria D, E & A).
