What is significant?
A c1880 English Oak tree (Quercus Robur) known as Wippell's oak and the site to a radius of 20 metres (may have been planted at the same time as Donaldson's Oak, see HO 39).

How is it significant?
Wippell's Oak is historically and aesthetically significant to the Shire of Nillumbik.

Why is it significant?
Wippell's Oak is historically significant because it germinated from seed gathered by early settler John Donaldson at England's Windsor Great Park and is a reminder of the practice cultivating British species of flora in Australia (Criterion A). It is historically and aesthetically significant because it has a trunk diameter of 1,000mm and is one of the oldest of this species in the former Shire of Eltham; the size and age of the tree make is a significant landscape feature (Criteria B & E).
