Why is it significant?
The adobe cottage is historically significant because the nature and form of its construction (in particular the use of cheap and local materials and the simple design) exemplify the dwellings of the early settlers and because very few such buildings now remain in the Shire (Criteria B & D). The cottage is historically and technically significant because its modest size is a reminder of the poor economic position of most of the Shire's residents until after World War II and because the building is a predecessor to the mud brick houses erected in the Shire during the latter half of the 20th century (Criteria A & F).
The corrugated iron outbuilding (toilet) is historically significant because it illustrates the poor economic position of most of the Shire's residents until after World War II (Criteria A).
