The church is architecturally, aesthetically, socially, spiritually and historically significant to the Shire of Nillumbik.
The church is historically, architecturally and aesthetically significant because it represents an adaptation and development of the 'Eltham style' of architecture and is the finest example of 20th century church architecture in the Shire of Nillumbik. It features a facade with recessed picture windows and doors and is constructed from mud brick and timber with timber shingles areas; recycled materials, including church pews, have been used for its interior furnishings (Criteria A & F). The church is spiritually and socially significant because it has been a place of worship since its completion and is unusual in that it serves both the Anglican and Catholic communities (Criteria B & G).
