Aesthetically, they are significant as fine examples of their type, with good size and form and which contribute to the historic landscape character of Reserve Street. (AHC criterion E1)
Scientifically, they are horticulturally significant as a good example of the species, which is rare in cultivation in Victoria. (AHC criterion B2)
