The former Wesleyan Methodist Chapel, now the Uniting Church, is
included on the Victorian Heritage Register (H0962) as a place of
State significance. Please refer to the VHR citation for the statement
of significance. The local statement of significance is as follows:
The Uniting Church, formerly the second Wesleyan Methodist Chapel,
is of state historical and architectural significance. It is a rare
example of uncoursed irregular bluestone construction in Melbourne
and it is one of the an earliest churches on Melbourne's vital
northern route, Sydney Road. This significance is enhanced by its
association with an important architect, T J Crouch, and by its
position within the surviving 19th century Wesleyan Methodist complex.
