to the City of Moreland.
The house at 31 Burnell Street is historically significant as one
of the earliest dwellings constructed within this part of Brunswick
and provides rare evidence of the limited development associated with
the speculative residential subdivisions of the mid-1880s. While
several houses were built in the late nineteenth century on the
Melville Manor estate, many have been demolished or altered and those
that remain relatively intact were constructed during the 1890s.
