Statement of Significance

What is Significant?
The Weston Street Precinct, comprising houses at 62-118 and 87-115 Weston Street.

How is it significant?
The Weston Street Precinct is of local architectural significance to the City of Moreland.

Why is it significant?
The Weston Street precinct is of local architectural significance as a reasonably unified streetscape of substantially intact single-storey terrace houses and detached cottages in a range of styles dating from the 1860s to the 1920s. Buildings of particular architectural interest include early bluestone cottages from the 1860s located at 66-68 and 78 Weston Street; their intactness is fair. There are several rows of Victorian terraces, including two reasonably intact runs between 107 and 125 Weston Street. A pair of semi-detached Edwardian brick cottages is located at 82-84 Weston Street. These cottages have unusual column detailing to the front porches and retain original screen doors.

Non-Contributory properties include:

Weston Street: 76, 93, 95, 97, 96-98 and 1-4/139-141.
