The Hope Street Precinct, comprising houses at 143B-171 and 188-250 Hope Street, 19-23 Larnoo Avenue, and 82-86 Melville Road.
The Hope Street Precinct is of local architectural significance to the City of Moreland.
The Hope Street Precinct is of local architectural significance as a group of predominantly Edwardian and Inter-War houses which exemplify typical Edwardian forms and in particular, timber detailing. The Edwardian houses are typically double-fronted, with faux ashlar timber boarding, bullnose verandahs with cast iron decorative friezes, ornate timber barge boards, paired double-hung sash windows and corrugated iron hipped roofs. Good examples include 21 Larnoo Crescent and 163 and 165 Hope Street. The Inter-War houses are modest weatherboard bungalows with broad gables clad in corrugated iron, and with gabled front porches.
Hope Street: 143B, 159, 194, 198, 204, 208, 242, 244, 246 and 248.
