"Sprouston" at no. 19 Blanche Street was built in 1887 for Everett Bardwell, gentleman, following the formation of the Kooyong Park Estate in 1886. It is aesthetically significant.
It is aesthetically significant (Criterion E) as an exceptionally richly ornamented surviving Boom period villa in Elsternwick, being unusual in this respect in its locale.
Contributory elements adding interest to the common asymmetrical form are the patterned polychrome brickwork, fretted valance and encircling verandah, the aesthetic value of the place being enhanced by its high level of integrity.
