SIGNIFICANCE: St John's Church of England, Burgundy Street, Heidelberg is of state architectural and historical significance. The building is an important, very early church, one of the earliest surviving buildings in Heidelberg and in Victoria, pre-dating Separation and the gold rush. Architecturally, it is a distinctively detailed Early English Gothic style church, characterised by buttresses, lancet windows with hood mouldings, castellated tower and large oculus.
