Statement of Significance
What is significant?
The house at 805 Korumburra-Warragul Road, Ranceby, built in c.1915, is significant. The asymmetrical gabled weatherboard Federation homestead has a hip and gable roofline with ridge gablets and a projecting gable to the right of the verandah. The gables have a pressed metal infills and triangular battened panels. The return bullnose verandah is supported by turner timber posts and decorated with an irregular ladder frame valance. The building has triple casement, multi-pane windows and a panelled door with sidelights. There are three red brick chimneys with terracotta pots. Non-original alterations and additions, other than those specified above, are not significant.

The house at 805 Korumburra-Warragul Road, Ranceby is of local historic and aesthetic significance to the South Gippsland Shire.
Why is it significant?
Historically, it is unknown exactly when the house at 805 Korumburra-Warragul Road was built, but the design elements suggest the building was constructed c.1915. This house is an example of a well-designed asymmetrical Federation villa within the South Gippsland Shire. The house's design especially stands out in the isolated, rural context in which it resides. This building demonstrates the development of the Ranceby region and the northern region of the South Gippsland Shire. (Criterion A) Aesthetically, the features of this building, such as the bullnose verandah, sash windows, hip and gable roofline, gablets and three red brick chimneys all demonstrate a high degree of technical ability and design knowledge and a superior example of this style of building. In addition, the building has a high degree of heritage integrity as it is remembered by many in the community from its prominent position within the landscape for many decades. This building significantly contributes to the aesthetic and historic character of the Ranceby district and Korumburra-Warragul Road. (Criterion E)
