It is a rectangular weatherboard hall with a corrugated iron roof gable roof with a small ridge hip and a hip addition to the west side. Non-original alterations and additions, other than those specified above, are not significant.
How is it significant?
The Mount Best Community Hall is of local historic, aesthetic and social significance to the South Gippsland Shire.
Why is it significant?
Historically, this is the third Mount Best Hall to serve the district after the previous two halls were destroyed by fires. The rebuilding of this hall demonstrates the importance of community halls to small, isolated communities such as Mount Best and provides tangible evidence of the historic community centre of the district. (Criterion A) Aesthetically, it is an Interwar hall with distinctive form and detailing including front-facing hip, wide double fronted entry and a broad projecting open porch, which is an historic landmark within Mount Best. (Criterion E) The hall has social significance for strong and enduring associations with the Mount Best community through its continuous use as a public hall for over 85 years. As Mount Best is an extremely isolated area the hall has been central to forming connections and relationships within the local community and maintaining an identity to the area. (Criterion G)
