What is significant? Aesthetically, although basic in design it is notable as an early
school that incorporates a number of unusual design features not found
on school buildings elsewhere in the Shire. (AHC criterion F.1)
The former Kilcunda Road State School No. 3337, originally
constructed by J.C. Hick in 1902, and later moved to Coal Creek
Heritage Village.
Why is it significant?
The former Kilcunda Road State School No. 3337 is of local
historic and aesthetic significance to South Gippsland Shire.
Historically, although no longer on its original site, as one of
the oldest in the Shire and the only surviving building from the
Kilcunda Road district it assists in illustrating the history of that
area as well as the early development of community facilties. (AHC
