How is it significant?
The former Agnes State School No. 3043 is of local historic, social and architectural significance to Foster and Agnes district.
Why is it significant?
Historically and socially, although no longer on its original site, the School is still able to illustrate the early development of educational facilities in the Shire. It is of particular interest as one of two surviving examples (the other being at Moyarra) of how prior to 1910 small schools were established by local communities if they agreed to provide a building. (Criterion A) Architecturally, the school is a locally rare example of a non-standard school building of the type constructed by local communities before the Education Department introduced a standard design for very small schools in 1910. (Criterion D)
