What is significant? - 1-5, 11-21 & 2-22 Aberdeen Street Non-original alterations and additions to the Contributory houses, and the houses at 9 Aberdeen St, 8, 10, 10A, 15, 17, 21 & 23 Alma Street, 1A, 1B & 7 Vida Street are not significant. How is it significant? Why is it significant? It is aesthetically significant for the remarkable diversity of housing types and styles in such a relatively small area. The consistency of the architectural styles emphasizes the strong and picturesque character of the precinct. The predominant California Bungalows display a richness and variety of details, features and materials. (Criteria D & E)
The Vida Street and Knight Street precinct, which is a residential area comprising housing constructed during the inter-war and early post-war period, is significant. The following houses contribute to the significance of the precinct:
- 12-20 & 19. 25, 27 Alma Street
- 1-9 & 2-16 Knight Street
- 1-5 & 28 Vida Street
The Vida Street & Knight Street precinct is of local historic and aesthetic significance to the City of Moonee Valley.
It is historically significant as an illustration of the significant residential development that occurred in Aberfeldie during the inter-war period and early-postwar periods. (Criterion A)
