Statement of Significance

The railway residence, built in 1888 for Charles Nott, owner of the 1889 Kenilworth Villa, by the local builder, James Adamson, and acquired by the Victorian Railways in about 1900, is significant to Cardinia Shire because of the associations with these prominent men and, because of its size, as evidence of the importance of the rail transport network in the nineteenth-century. The bunya bunya tree has significance for its associations with the earliest history of the property and Nott, and as a rare example of its type.
