What is significant? Maryknoll Lawn Cemetery, opened in 1964, and the Father Pooley grave (died 13 April 1969 in Royal Melbourne Hospital).

How is it significant? The Maryknoll Lawn Cemetery and Father Pooley grave are of historic and social significance to the locality of Maryknoll.

Why is it significant? The Maryknoll Lawn Cemetery and Father Pooley grave are significant as major and essential elements in this important settlement (RNE criteria A.4 and G.1). The cemetery is also significant because it contains historical information on the former residents at Maryknoll, commemorates the township's founder Father Pooley, as well as some design achievement in the commemoration plates associated with each burial (RNE criteria E.1, F.1 and H.1).
