City of Maribyrnong Heritage Review Statement of Significance: Redcourt is significant to the Western Region because: Footscray Conservation Study SOS Architecturally, a substantial suburban house and stable in an early but transitional form of the Bungalow style which is substantially intact. Historically, it is linked with one of Footscray's more prominent family businesses in this case linked with the locally important meat trade. Australian Heritage Commission (AHC) criteria The Australian Heritage Commission criteria consist of a set of eight criteria which cover social, aesthetic, scientific, and historic values. Each criterion has sub-criteria written specifically for cultural or natural values. The relevant criteria are: D.2 good example of type F.1 design or technological achievement . H.1 association with important person or group A.4 demonstrates well the course and pattern of history, important historic events
- architecturally, it is a substantial Edwardian-era suburban house and stable which is externally intact as the former home of a successful local businessman (Criterion D2);
- it is in an early transitional evolution of the Bungalow style, within the City, from the Colonial revival Federation Bungalow to the Indian Bungalow, with its Far Eastern influences (Criterion F1);
- historically, the house is linked with one of Footscray's more prominent family businesses (Criterion H1);
- it is linked with the development of the regionally important meat trade because of the Considine association (Criterion A4).
