Statement of Significance

The buildings know as the Junction Buildings at 950 to 942 Mt Alexander and nos 3 to 17 Napier Street were built by the developer, Charles R. Walker between 1921 and 1923. They are representative buildings of their type and period, recalling the period when the (Napier Street) shopping centre in the vicinity of Essendon Station was established to service its suburban context (Criterion A), whilst their prominent corner position and design give the buildings landmark status in their local context.
