STATEMENT OF SIGNIFICANCE
The house at 9 Seaview Parade, although significantly altered by the addition of the second storey, is aesthetically significant at a LOCAL level. It demonstrates original design qualities of the Edwardian style which include the asymmetrical facade and recessed hipped and projecting gable roof forms. Other intact qualities include the weatherboard wall cladding, tall brick chimney with terra cotta pot, timber framed casement windows in a bank of three under the verandah, front timber door and sidelight, verandah form, decorative gable infill, window hood, and possibly the verandah balustrading and fretwork. The house also makes a contribution to the predominantly single storey residential streetscape.
The house at 9 Seaview Parade is historically significant at a LOCAL level. It is associated with the subdivision of part of Alexander Thomson's "Kardinia" farm into the Kardinia Extended Estate, Section 4.
Overall, the house at 9 Seaview Parade is of LOCAL significance.
