The house at 29 Mount Pleasant Road is aesthetically significant at a LOCAL level. It demonstrates original design qualities of the Federation style. These qualities include the interlocking hipped and projecting gable galvanised corrugated iron roof forms and the return verandah, formed under the projection of the roofs. Other qualities include weatherboard wall cladding, the two tall, red brick chimneys with terra cotta pots, early timber framed windows, worked timber verandah posts and decorative fretwork, capped timber verandah balustrading and shingling, and the decorative gable infill. The large trees on the site contribute to the significance of the place. The house also makes a significant contribution to the predominantly single storey Edwardian and interwar Californian Bungalow streetscape. The house at 29 Mount Pleasant Road is historically significant at a LOCAL level. It has associations with Frank Herd, probable descendant of J. Herd, one of the earliest landholders in Belmont.
