C Listed - Local Significance The house at 8 Church Street is aesthetically significant at a LOCAL level. Although it has experienced some alterations to the windows and verandah, the house still demonstrates original design qualities of the Victorian style. These qualities include the hipped roof form, together with the skillion verandah that projects towards the street frontage. Other intact qualities include the horizontal weatherboard wall cladding, painted galvanised corrugated iron roof cladding?, painted brick and corbelled chimney, and narrow eaves. The house makes a significant contribution to the single storey, pitched roof residential streetscape. The house at 8 Church Street is historically significant at a LOCAL level. It is associated with the early development of housing in Belmont in the late nineteenth century, prior to the many subdivisions of the early twentieth century. Overall, the house at 8 Church Street is of LOCAL significance. REFERENCE 1.
