STATEMENT OF SIGNIFICANCE

The cottage at 8 Grandview Parade is aesthetically significant at a LOCAL level. Although the cottage has experienced alterations and additions, it still demonstrates some original design qualities of the Late Victorian style. These qualities include the gable roof that traverses the site, together with a gable and a skillion verandah that project towards the street frontage. Other intact qualities include the horizontal weatherboard wall cladding, chimney, timber framed twelve-paned double hung windows, gable ventilators and the worked timber finials. The cottage at 8 Grandview Parade is historically significant at a LOCAL level. It is associated with the Flinders Estate subdivision of 1887, and is one of few Late Victorian cottages still extant in the Barwon Heads township. Overall the cottage at 8 Grandview Parade is of LOCAL significance.
