What is significant?
The High Street bridge over the Merri Creek at Northcote, constructed c.1874 and widened c.1890.

How isit significant?
The High Street bridge over the Merri Creek at Northcote.

Why is it significant?
It is historically and aesthetically significant asa rare surviving nineteenth century bridge in the Melbourne Metropolitan area. The large scale and fine architectural detailing are distinctive features. (Criteria A, B & E)
