Statement of Significance

Hills View is representative ofthe substantial Italianate style houses erected by Melbourne's industrialists in the late 19th century. It was built as the home of Barnet Glass, Australia's first India rubber manufacturer and, subsequently, was the home of a pioneering Alphington family and successful quarry owner Thomas Adams.
