Statement of Significance

The row at 186-192 Clarke Street is prominently site and is the only known row to have facades both back and front. As such it also draws attention to the position of the race course below and which could be overlooked from the rear.

The row has parallels with 178, 212 and 224 Clarke Street, as examples of the late Victorian-era development preceding the later and more extensive early twentieth century development of this part of Clarke Street.
