Statement of Significance

Beaumont is the oldest known of the mansions which were constructed in Northcote during the pastoral phase of its history and among a small number of houses which date from the 1860s. It is also the most elegant (externally) of this style of large house in the municipality and has similarities to other early houses such as Como, in South Yarra (1855 -), and Linden, in St Kilda.
