What is significant? How is it significant? Why is it significant?
The house, built by 1938 for Joseph Edward Miller, and the low rendered front and side fence at 59 Moore Street, Moonee Ponds is significant.
The house at 59 Moore Street, Moonee Ponds is of local aesthetic significance to the City of Moonee Valley.
This importance (Criterion E) is derived from the manner in which it expresses the popular stylistic devices of the period including the central porch and "rustic" brickwork contrasting with substantial areas of stucco work, commonplace during the 1930s. The massing of the elements around the semi-circular porch is contributory along with the front fence and the high level of integrity both of the house and its setting.
