Statement of Significance

What is significant?
The row of detached houses at 1-19 Newton Parade Moonee Ponds, appear to have been built as an investment by 1891.

How is it significant?
The row of detached houses at 1-19 Newton Parade are historically and aesthetically important to the City of Moonee Valley.

Why is it significant?
This importance arises from its capacity to demonstrate the type of accommodation erected by speculators during the latter years of the boom period, the small and repetitive single fronted cottages rendered appealing by their cast iron lacework and polychrome brickwork being essentially cheap to build in the rush to make quick profits. Their importance is enhanced by their substantially intact state and rarity as a row of ten identical houses.
