"Allowah" at no. 12 Kiora Street, Essendon, was built on the Kalimna Estate for William V. McCall in 1905. It has historic and aesthetic importance. It is historically important (Criterion A) because it demonstrates with other comparable houses of the period that Essendon in the vicinity of the railway station consolidated its reputation as a prestigious middle class suburban location prior to the Great War. It is aesthetically important (Criterion E) as a prominent and comparatively early yet archetypical Essendon villa demonstrated by its exuberant picturesque treatment in the emerging Federation Style.
