Statement of Significance

The house at no. 2 Wilson Street, Moonee Ponds, was built in 1891 for Andrew Sharp Peacock. It is of aesthetic importance. This importance (Criterion A) is derived from the value of the building as a richly decorated example of a common villa type, giving it distinction at the local level. The polychrome brickwork and banded voussoirs to the windows of the projecting wing are the most striking decorative elements.
