Architecturally, an uncommon form (towered) of a typical 19th century suburban style (Italianate) which has been augmented in a subtle and sympathetic manner, after the Arts and Craft manner, to create a visually impressive fusion of the two periods. It is greatly enhanced by its landscape, setting and is prominent in the surrounding streetscape: of regional importance. Historically, built to occupy one of the 1850s 'village' allotments, (although later) this house evokes the former subdivision, now resubdivided; also it was the home of two men prominent in Essendon's pastoral era: of regional importance.
