Statement of Significance

The house at no. 14 Brewster Street, Essendon was designed by architect, Graeme Gunn, and built in 1966. It is aesthetically distinguished (Criterion E) by its orientation around a courtyard in the manner of a Roman villa and by the use of post and beam
construction on a grid at a time when this device was only emerging as a popular system of domestic construction wherein the structural elements of a house generated its visual and decorative form.
