Statement of Significance

The villa formerly known as "Homewood" and now "Resurrection House" was built in 1890 for Peter Woods. It is historically important as the largest villa residence erected following the sale of the "Aberfeldie Estate" (Criterion A) and is socially important for its links with the Sisters of the Resurrection and their work. It is a representative Boom period villa residence for a gentleman of means and is of interest in this respect, the tower and loggias being distinctive elements.
