The house, constructed c.1890, at 66 Eglinton Street, Moonee Ponds is significant. It is an elevated single fronted late Victorian Boom period villa in bi-chrome brick and distinguished by a bay window with cast iron verandah and masonry/slate approach steps leading up from the front double palisade cast iron fence. There is a hipped slate roof. The house is in good condition and has a high degree of external integrity when viewed from Eglinton Street.
The house at 66 Eglinton Street, Moonee Ponds is of local aesthetic significance to the City of Moonee Valley.
It is aesthetically significant as a fine example of a small detached late Victorian Boom period villa enhanced not only by its intact state but more importantly by its elevated position and the manner in which this has been resolved, in conjunction with the palisade fence, leading to a distinctively Victorian architectural composition (Criterion E).
