Statement of Significance

The house at no. 266 Buckley Street, Essendon, was built for William Eades in 1886-87. Its ostentatious style recalls the late nineteenth century boom period in Melbourne and its impact on Buckley Street, representing the first wave of development along this thoroughfare (Criterion A).
