The Meredith Railway Station is one of a notable group of stylistically similar railway station buildings on the Geelong Ballarat line, which includes the structures of Bannockburn and Meredith. The Meredith station is a finely proportioned and detailed Italianate composition with a distinctive timber bracketed verandah and anexcellent illustration of country station architecture of the 1860s in Victoria. The Ballarat-Geelong line which opened on 10 April 1862 was an important nineteenth century link.
