What is significant?
The former "olde bakery" at Dunkeld is a single storey symmetrical timber building, thought to date from 1877. It consists of a shop on the east side, the residence on the west side, both with extensions and alterations, and the brick bakery building at the rear. The shop has a simple timber verandah. There has been no architect or builder associated with the design. The building survives in good condition with a high degree of integrity, particularly in the interior of the shop and brick bakery.

The former "olde bakery" at Dunkeld is of historical significance for its long association with the baking business. The site dates from 1877, and operated as a bakery continuously for a long period. The shop represents a small industry, which supplied a local market in a small township. It is historically significant for the remaining interiors and workings of the bakery shop and the brick bakery located at the rear of the building.
