Statement of Significance

National Estate Register:
The Inverleigh Presbyterian Church is a typical country parish Church, simply planned as a gabled and
buttressed hall and with minimal adornment or stylistic reference. It is one of a number of similar Churches
designed by architect Joseph Shaw and has no special place in his extensive practice in the Geelong region.
The church has interesting associations with the district, especially with Dr Robert Hope of Barwon Leigh
Station.
